Houston Texans

The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Tuten: B.

Call it larceny. Bhayshul Tuten sat on the board until the 241st pick, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. No fireworks, but a solid B.

They are betting Broughton proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Tyler Warren · TE · rank 15
In No. 25 they get a mismatch in the passing game at a price that makes it sweeter.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Matthew Golden · WR · rank 43
Matthew Golden is a better player than the 58th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Donovan Jackson · OT · rank 86
Donovan Jackson in Round 3, Pick 25 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.25 · Pick 126 · Vernon Broughton · DL · rank 154
A big swing on Vernon Broughton at pick 126, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.28 · Pick 165 · Kevin Winston Jr. · S · rank 104
They will replay Kevin Winston Jr. at pick No. 165 for years; that is how good the value is. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Bhayshul Tuten · RB · rank 164
Steal is underselling it; Bhayshul Tuten at slot 241 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
