You could see the war room lean forward. Tez Johnson at Round 5, Pick 28 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They are betting Griffith proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Walter Nolen in slot 58, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They liked Savion Williams enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 89. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached a country mile for Jackson Slater at the 127th pick, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Tez Johnson all the way to the 167th overall pick, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Thor Griffith at pick 243 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
