When a board-topper like Kevin Winston Jr. slides to slot 167, you do not overthink it, and the Texans did not. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Williams to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a mismatch in the passing game, outstanding value to boot.
Tyler Booker in pick No. 58 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Savion Williams in No. 89 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A slide stopped in the 127th overall pick, with Jordan Phillips worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board fumbled Kevin Winston Jr. all the way to Round 5, Pick 28, and they scooped it up. A minor itch, scratched.
No drama and no debate, Hunter Wohler went about where he belonged in the 243rd pick. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
