You build a draft on nights like this. Ollie Gordon II had no business being available in the Round 7 slot, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Every board in the league had Kandra lower, and that gap is the story.
They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Taking Kenneth Grant in the 58th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Luke Kandra at slot 89 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Andrew Mukuba at Round 4, Pick 25 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
They barely believed it either: Oronde Gadsden II still on the board at the Round 5 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Ollie Gordon II in the 241st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
