The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Lathan Ransom, the No. 109 name on the board, in slot 165. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Every board in the league had Griffith lower, and that gap is the story. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a red-zone target to build around, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Taking Jalon Walker in Round 2, Pick 26 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
They went early on Jaylin Noel in slot 89, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A slide stopped in pick 126, with Luke Kandra worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A safety of that caliber at the 165th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Thor Griffith at the 241st pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
