Houston Texans

Grand theft in the Round 7 slot: the Texans steal Skattebo and grade out a B.

The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Cam Skattebo fell into pick 235. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Every board in the league had Stowers lower, and that gap is the story. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Job largely done: running back settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.19 · Pick 19 · Mason Graham · DT · rank 7
In pick 19 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 37
Tyler Booker in No. 53 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.20 · Pick 84 · Xavier Watts · S · rank 48
Circle this one: Xavier Watts at Round 3, Pick 20 is a fall that decides a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R4.19 · Pick 120 · Eli Stowers · TE · rank 164
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Eli Stowers. The roster fit checks out.
R5.27 · Pick 164 · Xavier Nwankpa · S · rank 186
They talked themselves into Xavier Nwankpa at pick No. 164, and the board did not agree. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.19 · Pick 235 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 178
A running back of that caliber at slot 235 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
