Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Bhayshul Tuten, the No. 157 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 241st overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Gadsden II proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Emeka Egbuka in pick No. 58, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They did well to land Dylan Fairchild in the 89th pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Oronde Gadsden II at No. 126 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They robbed the room for Sonny Styles here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A running back of that caliber at pick 241 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
