Thirty-one other rooms let Cam Skattebo slide, and the Texans were the ones holding the card at No. 241. Highway robbery.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Circle this one: Colston Loveland at the Round 2 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Donovan Jackson at Round 3, Pick 25 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Taking Tez Johnson in pick No. 126 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Robert Spears-Jennings in the 165th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Cam Skattebo at pick 241 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
