The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Cam Skattebo, the No. 105 name on the board, sitting there at the 243rd pick like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Matthew Golden at slot 58 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Donovan Jackson at the 89th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Elijah Arroyo in pick 127 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Lathan Ransom in Round 5, Pick 28 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They will replay Cam Skattebo at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
