Somebody in the 243rd pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Oronde Gadsden II, the No. 142 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get an anchor for the defensive front, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Kenneth Grant in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board fumbled Jalon Walker all the way to the 89th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Tate Ratledge in the 127th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They barely believed it either: Jackson Slater still on the board at pick No. 167. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Oronde Gadsden II in No. 243 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
