Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Billy Bowman Jr. got past him. The Texans do not have to explain a thing at pick 165.
They are betting Griffith proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a security blanket over the middle, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Isaiah Bond at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tate Ratledge slid further than he should have, and slot 89 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Dylan Fairchild still on the board at the 126th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Billy Bowman Jr. in pick No. 165 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor itch, scratched.
Thor Griffith at the 241st overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
