You could see the war room lean forward. Renardo Green at pick 123 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Watson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through offensive lineman.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
The board fumbled Nate Wiggins all the way to Round 2, Pick 10, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
T'Vondre Sweat at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Circle this one: Bralen Trice at pick No. 86 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Renardo Green was still sitting there in the 123rd pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They paid sticker price for Johnny Wilson in the 127th overall pick, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Ty'Ron Hopper in pick 188 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A real head-scratcher, Joshua Cephus in No. 238 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They jumped the gun on Sam Hartman, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Blake Watson this early at Round 7, Pick 32. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
