When a board-topper like Jalon Walker slides to the Round 3 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Texans did not.
That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Cooper has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get an anchor for the defensive front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Matthew Golden in Round 2, Pick 26, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Jalon Walker in No. 89 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Mason Taylor in the 127th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tyler Cooper in pick No. 167 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jonas Sanker at the 243rd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
