Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Ollie Gordon II got past him. The Texans do not have to explain a thing at the Round 7 slot.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a weapon on the perimeter, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tyleik Williams in Round 2, Pick 26. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Dylan Fairchild. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
By-the-book stuff, Oronde Gadsden II at No. 126 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let a safety like Sonny Styles reach the 165th overall pick and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Somehow Ollie Gordon II was still sitting there in pick 241, and they pounced on premier running back value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
