Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Bhayshul Tuten, the No. 164 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 7 slot. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will need Gadsden II to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an anchor for the defensive front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tyler Booker in pick 58 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Isaiah Bond at the 89th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Oronde Gadsden II at slot 126 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It fills a real need, too.
They will replay Kevin Winston Jr. at pick No. 165 for years; that is how good the value is. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
The board fumbled Bhayshul Tuten all the way to the 241st pick, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
