The rest of the league will want that one back. Cam Skattebo tumbling to the Texans in Round 7, Pick 25 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The cost of the Gadsden II reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a load in the middle. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A tidy bit of business in the 58th overall pick, where Matthew Golden graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Donovan Jackson. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid up for Oronde Gadsden II at pick No. 127 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They robbed the room for Malachi Moore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Cam Skattebo in slot 243 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
