You can hear the double-takes from here. The Texans took Thor Griffith at the 243rd overall pick, roughly 66 spots before his name belonged. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Arroyo. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They read the board right and Matthew Golden was the payoff at slot 58. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tate Ratledge slid further than he should have, and pick 89 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Elijah Arroyo in pick No. 127 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jackson Slater in the Round 5 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached into another round for Thor Griffith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
