You build a draft on nights like this. Bhayshul Tuten had no business being available in the 239th overall pick, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
Nwankpa has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 19 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyler Booker in slot 55 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board fumbled Harold Fannin Jr. all the way to Round 3, Pick 22, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for Kevin Winston Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Xavier Nwankpa in the 164th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Bhayshul Tuten in pick No. 239, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
