Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Xavier Nwankpa, the No. 186 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 235th overall pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 19 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Isaiah Bond in pick 53 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Donovan Jackson in the 84th pick, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
By-the-book stuff, Sonny Styles at pick No. 120 squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
