The Texans looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Thor Griffith at Round 7, Pick 25 regardless, 67 picks early.
They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. The McMillan pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Marcus Mbow at the 58th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Elijah Arroyo at slot 89 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Darius Alexander at No. 127 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jackson Slater at pick No. 167. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Thor Griffith in Round 7, Pick 25 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
