Call it larceny. Cam Skattebo sat on the board until the 243rd pick, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Walter Nolen slid further than he should have, and Round 1, Pick 25 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Kenneth Grant at pick No. 58 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jalon Walker in slot 89 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Savion Williams at the 127th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jackson Slater in pick 167 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They barely believed it either: Cam Skattebo still on the board at the Round 7 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
