There is conviction, and then there is this. The Texans took Thor Griffith a full 121 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Jackson. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a mismatch in the passing game at a price that makes it sweeter.
Matthew Golden at pick 58 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tate Ratledge in pick No. 89. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for Donovan Jackson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Thor Griffith well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy little value on Hunter Wohler in No. 241, a step better than break-even. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
