The Browns spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Daylen Everette, the No. 81 name on the board, in the 107th pick.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Reaching for Freeling left real value on the table behind him.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a blindside protector, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
They took Chris Brazzell II at par in slot 25, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chris Bell. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jake Slaughter at the Round 3 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Malachi Fields in Round 3, Pick 25 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Daylen Everette in pick No. 107 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A quiet steal in the 146th overall pick: Eli Raridon for less than the market said. It fills a real need, too.
By-the-book stuff, Kaytron Allen at the 149th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nothing to complain about; Jalen Stroman went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value with a capital V on Dane Key in pick 248, a genuine coup. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
