The Texans torched the value chart for Nadame Tucker, taking him 33 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They banked enough surplus on Thomas to cover a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value.
No drama and no debate, Blake Miller went about where he belonged in the 38th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Good price on Christen Miller in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Jadarian Price at par in the 69th pick, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Harold Perkins Jr. in pick No. 106, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nadame Tucker. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid a round early for Domani Jackson in the 167th pick, more than the board wanted. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Zavion Thomas in No. 243, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
