The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Andrew Mukuba, the No. 87 name on the board, in pick 167. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They are betting Griffith proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
You do not let a safety like Malaki Starks reach pick 58 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Fair-plus on Donovan Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Savion Williams in slot 127 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Andrew Mukuba in No. 167 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Thor Griffith. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
