The Texans clearly saw something nobody else did in Caden Curry, taking him 61 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
On value alone, Lew makes the weekend a net positive. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a matchup weapon at tight end, and a steal at that.
Emmanuel Pregnon in the 38th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Somehow Caleb Banks was still sitting there in pick 59, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Caden Curry in pick No. 69 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They will replay Connor Lew at the Round 4 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Oscar Delp in slot 141 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Steal is underselling it; Kaytron Allen at No. 167 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jalen Catalon at slot 243 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
