The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Savion Williams slide 71 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, outstanding value to boot.
Isaiah Bond in Round 2, Pick 26 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They did well to land Donovan Jackson in pick No. 89, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jordan Phillips slipping to the 127th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Savion Williams in pick 167 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Hunter Wohler. A minor need, but a need all the same.
