Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Tez Johnson, the No. 99 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 5 slot.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting Ratledge proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

In pick 25 they get a matchup weapon at tight end, outstanding value to boot.
Tate Ratledge at the 58th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Donovan Jackson in pick No. 89 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Darius Alexander at No. 127 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
