Call it larceny. LeQuint Allen sat on the board until the Round 7 slot, and the Commanders did not need to be asked twice. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The Riley pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Nice patience on Shemar Stewart, who had no business lasting to pick No. 29. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Tre Harris slipping to the 61st pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good price on Tate Ratledge in the 79th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value said wait; Quincy Riley in the Round 5 slot says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A wild overpay on Jake Briningstool in No. 207, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, LeQuint Allen in pick 238, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A linebacker of that caliber at slot 250 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
