Somebody in the Round 6 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Commanders sat still while Carson Schwesinger, the No. 87 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The Trapilo reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th overall pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Ozzy Trapilo in No. 61 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Azareye'h Thomas at Round 3, Pick 15 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Pat Bryant. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Carson Schwesinger at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They robbed the room for LeQuint Allen here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Jake Briningstool in slot 250 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
