The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Dolphins watched Jay Higgins slide 103 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
They are betting Jefferson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. More want than need.
They will replay Malaki Starks at No. 48 for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Dylan Fairchild at the 98th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value said wait; Hayden Conner in slot 114 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Steal is underselling it; Quinshon Judkins at the 133rd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A wild overpay on Shemar Turner in pick 149, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jake Majors in pick No. 154 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 8 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
KJ Jefferson at No. 231 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board fumbled Karene Reid all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
