Call it larceny. Jordan Magee sat on the board until Round 7, Pick 22, and the Dolphins did not need to be asked twice.
They are betting Powers-Johnson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a building block for the line, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
A conviction pick on Cooper Beebe at pick 66 that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Somehow Jeremiah Trotter Jr. was still sitting there in No. 87, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. The roster fit checks out.
They barely believed it either: Brenden Rice still on the board at the 90th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Justin Eboigbe at par in pick No. 124, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled Kamal Hadden all the way to the 158th pick, and they scooped it up. A minor itch, scratched.
No drama and no debate, Aki Ogunbiyi went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
JD Bertrand in Round 6, Pick 24 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Jordan Magee in No. 242 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
