Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kamal Hadden got past him. The Dolphins do not have to explain a thing at No. 186. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Barton reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 30 they get a building block for the line, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
They took Jackson Powers-Johnson at par in the 53rd pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Johnny Wilson in the Round 2 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A straight-up fair deal on Braelon Allen at pick No. 155, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
You do not let a cornerback like Kamal Hadden reach Round 6, Pick 11 and blink. They did not. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
JD Bertrand at slot 199 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Jalen Green in pick 239, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
