You build a draft on nights like this. Kamren Kinchens had no business being available in the 64th overall pick, and the Chiefs did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Cephus pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.2 · Pick 34 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 28
Brian Thomas Jr. in the 34th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 34
Taking Kamren Kinchens in pick 64 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Malachi Corley · WR · rank 76
The board fumbled Malachi Corley all the way to pick No. 95, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 121
Darius Robinson slipping to the 133rd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.5 · Pick 180 · Austin Booker · DE-EDGE · rank 164
The board had Austin Booker higher than Round 6, Pick 5, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
R6.7 · Pick 182 · Chau Smith-Wade · CB · rank 168
A quiet steal in No. 182: Chau Smith-Wade for less than the market said. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 190
Steal is underselling it; Isaiah Davis at slot 210 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 208
Christian Jones at the Round 6 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Isaiah Williams · WR · rank 209
Isaiah Williams in the Round 7 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.24 · Pick 244 · Kenny Logan Jr. · S · rank 224
They barely believed it either: Kenny Logan Jr. still on the board at the 244th pick. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.30 · Pick 250 · Joshua Cephus · WR · rank 258
Joshua Cephus in slot 250 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
