This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jaylin Simpson, the No. 154 name on the board, stolen at the Round 6 slot. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Reaching for Cephus left real value on the table behind him.
They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a weapon on the perimeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tyler Nubin in the 64th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
Circle this one: Jalen McMillan at pick No. 95 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Sataoa Laumea at Round 4, Pick 33 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Braelon Allen in slot 158 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Luke McCaffrey in the 172nd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They barely believed it either: Jaylin Simpson still on the board at pick 210. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A conviction pick on Joshua Cephus at the Round 7 slot that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
