When the story of this class is written, it opens with De'Corian Clark at pick 186, a reach of 26 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Trotter Jr.. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick 46, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Graham Barton at pick No. 53 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the 82nd pick, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No edge and no loss on Darius Robinson in the 118th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A premium they did not need to pay, Braelon Allen a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reach on Joe Milton III in slot 160; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
De'Corian Clark at the 186th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Ethan Driskell at pick No. 199 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It fills a real need, too.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Matthew Jones. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
