After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
They are betting Watson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Barrett steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 2 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Chris Braswell in Round 2, Pick 4 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid a round early for Kingsley Suamataia in pick 46, more than the board wanted. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had Xavier Worthy higher than slot 67, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Zak Zinter at pick No. 101 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jalen McMillan at the 103rd pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jarrian Jones in the Round 5 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached into another round for Nathaniel Watson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A minor itch, scratched.
A tidy little value on Josh Proctor in the 220th pick, a step better than break-even. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Michael Barrett slid further than he should have, and No. 232 is lovely value for the linebacker. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
