Somebody in slot 64 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Keon Coleman, the No. 36 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
They will replay Keon Coleman at the 64th pick for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Gabriel Murphy at pick 95 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Ben Sinnott at the 133rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Taking Chau Smith-Wade in Round 5, Pick 22 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Marist Liufau in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
