You build a draft on nights like this. Sheridan Jones had no business being available in No. 252, and the Chiefs did the only sane thing and turned in the card. No fireworks, but a solid B.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and JC Latham at pick 32 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They did well to land Kingsley Suamataia in the 65th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Javon Baker at No. 95 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Johnny Wilson at slot 132 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They let Jalyx Hunt come to them and pounced at pick No. 159. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Frank Gore Jr. at the Round 7 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board fumbled Sheridan Jones all the way to Round 7, Pick 32, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
