The Dolphins spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Ryan Flournoy, the No. 203 name on the board, in the Round 7 slot. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Rogers has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Cooper Beebe at pick No. 55 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They will replay Jarrian Jones at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A conviction pick on Justin Rogers at the 184th pick that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Trente Jones in slot 198 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Taking Ryan Flournoy in the 241st overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
