The Dolphins treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 71 on Braelon Allen a full 35 spots early.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The McGlothern pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Cooper Beebe at the 57th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Braelon Allen in pick No. 71 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Sataoa Laumea in pick 125; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A big swing on Justin Rogers at the Round 5 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Dwight McGlothern in Round 6, Pick 9 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Curtis Jacobs. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tidy little value on Donovan Jennings in Round 7, Pick 21, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
