The Chiefs looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Joe Milton III at the Round 4 slot regardless, 69 picks early. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Morgan. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th pick they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jordan Morgan at pick 64 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Xavier Worthy here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in slot 95, where Kris Abrams-Draine graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Joe Milton III this early at the Round 4 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nice patience on Tommy Eichenberg, who had no business lasting to pick No. 159. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Cody Schrader in No. 173 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Nathan Thomas reach slot 252 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
