Boards are made to be trusted, and the Cardinals shredded theirs for Donovan Smith. He came off 106 spots early, and the room will hear about it. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Stutsman value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 16 they get an anchor for the offensive line, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They jumped the gun on Trey Amos, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A quiet steal in pick 78: Ashton Gillotte for less than the market said. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They talked themselves into Donovan Smith at slot 114, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow Danny Stutsman was still sitting there in the 152nd overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
