The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Dolphins watched Dwight McGlothern slide 37 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Allen to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Christian Haynes at slot 55 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
They liked Braelon Allen enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 94. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Matt Goncalves at pick No. 126 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Johnny Wilson at the 131st overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Tykee Smith at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jordan Jefferson at the 184th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Dwight McGlothern in pick 198 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
