When a board-topper like Elijah Sarratt slides to the 109th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Chiefs did not. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a workhorse for the backfield at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In No. 29 they get a mismatch in the passing game, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Brandon Cisse went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Christen Miller in pick 74 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Elijah Sarratt in the 109th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Skyler Gill-Howard at slot 148, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Aamil Wagner at the 176th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Eric McAlister at the Round 6 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
