Tennessee Titans

Washington Jr. should have been long gone. The Titans pounced, and earned a B.

When a board-topper like Mike Washington Jr. slides to pick 101, you do not overthink it, and the Titans did not.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · David Bailey · LB-EDGE · rank 5
In pick No. 4 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Jacob Rodriguez · LB · rank 52
Jacob Rodriguez at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Germie Bernard · WR · rank 63
A tidy little value on Germie Bernard in slot 66, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Jake Slaughter · C · rank 58
Jake Slaughter at the 78th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.1 · Pick 101 · Mike Washington Jr. · RB · rank 72
A running back of that caliber at the 101st overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · De'Zhaun Stribling · WR · rank 99
Nothing to complain about; De'Zhaun Stribling went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.4 · Pick 144 · Hezekiah Masses · CB · rank 139
Hezekiah Masses at No. 144 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R5.37 · Pick 177 · Travis Burke · OT · rank 173
Travis Burke at pick 177 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.3 · Pick 184 · Febechi Nwaiwu · OG · rank 178
Febechi Nwaiwu at the 184th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.13 · Pick 194 · Kaleb Elarms-Orr · LB · rank 181
A tidy bit of business in pick 194, where Kaleb Elarms-Orr graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.19 · Pick 200 · VJ Payne · S · rank 200
VJ Payne in the 200th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R7.2 · Pick 218 · Eric McAlister · WR · rank 202
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Eric McAlister at pick No. 218 is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.9 · Pick 225 · TJ Hall · CB · rank 230
No drama and no debate, TJ Hall went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
