Whoever sat across the table from the Chiefs should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Eichenberg. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Adding Myles Bryant by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Keon Coleman went about where he belonged in pick 42. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kiran Amegadjie. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Patrick Paul at slot 95 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Zak Zinter in the 132nd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Ainias Smith at No. 159 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Tommy Eichenberg still on the board at the Round 5 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jalen Coker in pick No. 252 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
