Thirty-one other rooms let Dwight McGlothern slide, and the Dolphins were the ones holding the card at the Round 6 slot. Highway robbery. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The cost of the Wilson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 27 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Ricky Pearsall in the 55th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A premium they did not need to pay, Zak Zinter a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Braelon Allen at the 104th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
They went early on Johnny Wilson in slot 108, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kitan Oladapo in pick No. 158. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board fumbled Dwight McGlothern all the way to pick 184, and they scooped it up. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
M.J. Devonshire in Round 6, Pick 23 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Julian Pearl in Round 7, Pick 6 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nathan Thomas. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
