There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Bears started one anyway for Dani Dennis-Sutton, 26 picks ahead of schedule. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Getting Davis where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 26 they get a load in the middle. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had Emmanuel McNeil-Warren higher than the Round 2 slot, and the safety fell to them anyway. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Dani Dennis-Sutton at slot 60 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Mike Washington Jr. at No. 89 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No edge and no loss on Sam Hecht in the 91st pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
