The Chiefs spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Isaiah Davis, the No. 155 name on the board, in No. 221.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Trey Flowers gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 32 they get a security blanket over the middle, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They let Malachi Corley come to them and pounced at the 64th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Austin Booker at No. 103 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Zak Zinter at Round 4, Pick 31 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Matt Goncalves still on the board at pick No. 159. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Taking Tyrone Tracy Jr. in pick 173 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Isaiah Davis in the 221st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
